What If Stress Is Actually Good For You?

What If Stress Is Actually Good For You?

I don’t know about you, but I have always been taught to decrease my stress. I have been told repeatedly that stress is bad for me. Stress negatively affects my health; it hurts my heart; it can even shorten my life. Right? We all know it. Stress makes your heart pound, your breathing quicken and your forehead sweat. Well….what if stress doesn’t kill me? What if it is my RESPONSE to stress that could kill me? What if stress isn’t the problem at all and it is the way I think about stress that causes the problem? Let’s play the “What If” game for a minute and consider stress from another angle. What if stress isn’t the enemy? What if we see stress as helpful? As a motivator? An energy that gets us moving and changing in positive ways? An energy that improves immune...

Wishing You Sound Health

Wishing You Sound Health

Can you think of times in your life when you were looking at or experiencing something new and different and thought that was just too strange to believe, and then, before you knew it, you were right in the middle of it? Well, welcome to my experience with sound healing. Mandara Cromwell has been a great friend for several years, and I knew her through my involvement with the International Sound Therapy Association (www.powerofsounds.org). I knew she had this company called Cyma Technologies, but healing people with sound? Really? I don’t think so. It is way too easy and it sounds way to woo-woo for me to take seriously. Understanding Your Brain: You’re So Complex

You’re So Complex “The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” ― Albert Einstein   Do you believe that you are responsible for your current situation? Do you feel that deep down on some intrinsic level you created your job? Your relationships? Your world?   Don’t worry; this isn’t going to be a metaphysical message about positive affirmations and unicorns. Although in complete disclosure, I like them both. This is actually a message about your brain’s innate complexity and your ability to change your world. Let’s face it; change is inevitable. The only question is whether you are going to have something to say about it. In order to understand how we got where we are, we need to know...

I Will Survive | Brain Reactions

The brain is my focus. When someone comes to me with an issue or an area of his or her life that isn’t working the way that person wants, the first place we look is at the brain. I want people to know how their brains work so that they can understand the choices they make. It’s not for me to judge someone’s decision, its for me to make them understand that they have choices and why they make the decisions they do. When we understand why we make the decisions we do and how ours brains are involved in that process, we gain power over our own lives and can create change where we want it. For example, have you ever walked into the Mall, smelled the Cinnabon® store, and your next conscious memory was wiping the sugar from your mouth? There is a REASON this happens....
